The markets of Provence

" But there is, throughout the markets of Provence
So many attractive girls, so many attractive girls
That in the middle of fennel, melons and celeries
I have well from time to time some ideas which dance
Night traveler, me who in swarm
Crossed looks which I did not see
I look at daybreak forward to finding on my steps
These girls of the sun who laugh and who call me
The morning to the market "

On an extract of lyrics of the song " The markets of Provence " of G. Becaud, it is essential to evoke the Markets of Provence in Vaucluse:

The Provençal markets are always very led and picturesque. We serve you with the smile and the accent of Provence. It is in the good atmosphere that you can buy the Provençal specialities and savor the lifestyle in the Provençal.

A market of Provence, it is the choice between the flavors and the colors of the South of France: fruits and vegetables, nice-smelling pallet of herbs and plants, goat cheeses in pavement, in log or in pyramid, olive oil, honeys and jams, boot of asparaguses, basket of strawberry, grape muscatel wine, fougasses(seasoned flat breads) and this winter stuffs her(it)... Any snack, to try everything on the markets of Provence...

The most beautiful markets of Vaucluse:

Interesting products: olive oil , goat cheeses , scoops (asparaguses). In season, small truffle market places of Bouguerie.
Small nice tables to nibble on the places(squares) of the former center. Leave his car before the city entrance. Free shuttle of bus in July-August.

The biggest of the department. It covers Friday morning (8 hour 12 o'clock 30) all the streets of the old town and the esplanade. Very popular, very mixed also: clothes, food, small business sector, plants.
In November, it is the first one walked to truffles, which indicates the trend.

Velleron
A few kilometers away from Carpentras, on the road of Cavaillon. None was quotednpicturesque, but from the point of view of the scoops, it is the ultimate. Reserved for the producers, exclusively fruits and vegetables (also oil, honey and jam likewise).
THE market of the connoisseurs, for 30 years. The big meeting of the cooks, the walked kind pro but opened to all.
Tlj sf dim in April seven, from 6 pm. Mar, ven and sam, from 4 pm of oct in March. More information: velleron.fr

Coustellet
At the foot of Gordes, road of Robion, a peasant market become in a few years so worldly as that of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue or Lourmarin. Local and star producers international, craftsmen and wine growers from here and there. Weak points: fish and delicatessen. Key points: the prices.
All the dim, of Easter with Christmas. More information: marchepaysandecoustellet

Richerenches
The largest truffle market in France in volume, and perhaps in Europe, but not the one that makes the most noise, on the contrary.
Here, truffles are sold "on the ass" of cars and weighing is done at the coffee shop. Even if tourists often have trouble understanding something, take the opportunity to visit the village, which is very nice.
From nov to mid March, every Saturday morning. More info: Richerenches.fr
